Hereford/Angus Hybrid
DOB: 09/27/2013
A primary goal of our operation is to produce cattle that work for the commercial cattleman. If you are a commercial operator with black Angus-influenced crossbred cattle, a Black Gelbvieh bull can maintain the color while introducing more hybrid vigor (and, thus, more pounds at weaning) to your calf crop.
While the mainstay of our operation is purebred Gelbviehs, it always helps to show potential customers the calves our registered Black Gelbvieh bulls deliver within our Black Simmental-influenced commercial herd. We have kept that same philosophy in mind as we begin to develop a limited herd of three-way cross cattle that will be 1/2 Black Gelbvieh, 1/4 Black Angus, and 1/4 Hereford.
Our first four females for this venture were purchased from Drummond Sparks Beef in Hanceville, Alabama. Three of the Black Motley-face heifers, including Motley Marty 406A, are full embryo transfer sisters out of Drummond Sparks’ lead donor female, TH 122 45P Dominette 120W, a Registered Polled Hereford purchased from Topp Herefords in Grace City, North Dakota. The heifers are sired by Mohnen Brushpopper 353, a Registered Black Angus son out of BCC Bushwacker 41-93. These females have an exceptional combination of pedigree, performance, and eye appeal.
We look forward to seeing the first 1/2 Gelbvieh, 1/4 Angus, 1/4 Hereford calves hit the ground next Spring. Thank you to Ron Dugger with Drummond Sparks Beef, who manages an outstanding herd of over 600 head of Angus and Hereford cattle in Jasper, Auburn, and Hanceville, Alabama.
